Step 1 - Download the AlterWind's Raw Log Analyzer Software AlterWind Analyzer Lite 3.3 and remember where you saved this application. Hint:: Save file on your desktop.

Step 2 - Now extract the zip file. You will need extraction software in order to decompress this file. We have 'EzyZip' a free extraction program for you, if you need one Click Here

Step 3 - OK now install the AlterWind Analyzer application on your home computer by simply double-clicking on the icon titled "aw-loganalyzer-lite-setup". The icon will look similar to the image below.

After clicking on the icon above the install wizard will begin, follow the instructions in the windows to install AlterWind Software on your computer. Please read below to help with the install process and to test run a report of a Raw Log file.

Language Selection

Select your language of your choice from the drop down window and click OK. (English is default)

Install Confirmation

Before continuing please save all other work and close all running programs. You now see the installation confirmation window. Click Next to continue.

License Agreement

Please take the time to read the license agreement and click "I accept the agreement" and Click Next.

Destination Location

Select the installation folder for the AlterWind Log Analyzer software. The default path is usually c:Program Files as seen below. If you are unsure, simply Click Next.

Note:: You may receive a wizard window stating that the folder does not exist. Simply Click Yes to have Windows create the folder for you.

Start Menu Folder

The next window you will be asked where to place the AlterWind program shortcut. The default is in the 'Start Menu' under 'All Programs'. If you are unsure, simply Click Next.

Additional Shortcuts

On the next window, you can specify to 'add a desktop shortcut' so you can quickly access your AlterWind Analyzer program. If you are unsure, simply check the 'Create a desktop icon' and Click Next.

Install Conclusion Summary

The next windows shows your options settings that you have selected, review and Click Install. After the program has completely installed the software on your computer Click Finish.

Congratulations! You have now installed AlterWind Raw Log Analyzer Lite 3.3 on your computer.

Note: Depending on your computers' configuration you may be asked to reboot your computer. Do so and continue down below.

Setting Up and Downloading Your Raw Log Files

Step 4 - Now that AlterWind Analyzer software has just been installed on your computer it's time to put it to work, but first lets create a new folder on your desktop (or where ever you would like to create a new folder) and name it 'Raw Log Files'. This new folder will be used to store your Raw Access Log files. Remember where you created this folder as you will need to access this new folder later on.

To create a new folder, simply right click on your desktop screen, scroll down to 'New', then click 'Folder' and name it whatever you would like, (e.g.. Raw Log Files).

Step 5 - Now that your new folder has been created it is now time to set-up some quick settings, so your server will start archiving your daily Raw Access Logs on the month to month bases. Login to your RVSkin cPanel and Click 'Raw Log Manager' icon under 'Analysis and Log Files' section as seen below.

After clicking on the 'Raw Log Manager' icon, you will see some available options that need to be set, so the server will start archiving your daily raw log files. Check 'Archive Logs in your home directory at the end of each stats run [every 1 day(s)]' and click the Save button. The server will now start archiving your daily raw log files and automatically organize them in a month to month bases from this point on.

Note: If you had never set these settings before, then you will not see any archived logs as seen in the example image below. So you may need to wait a few days to download some data from your 'Raw Log Manager' to analyze.

Hint: If you wish to view your logs over an extended period of time, you need to have this option checked and saved, as seen below.

Step 6 - We now need some data to test your new software. To get this data, we need to download your Raw Access Logs. You can get your Raw Access Logs by clicking on the "Raw Access Logs" button under the "Analysis and Log Files" section of your RVSkin cPanel. Login to your RVSkin cPanel and look for this icon under 'Analysis and Log Files' section as seen below.

After clicking on the 'Raw Access Logs' icon, you will see a new window and within it that reads "Please select a raw log to download". Click on the domain name you want to analyze. After doing so you will be prompt to download the data, please choose 'Save' and save this file to the folder that you had created earlier in Step 4 to store your Raw Log Files on your computer.

Launching AlterWind Software and Putting it to Work

Step 7 - Now let's launch the AlterWind program by double clicking your desktop icon. The desktop shortcut to AlterWind will look similar to the image below.

Setting up basic configurationfor AlterWind software

Default Page and Report Path:: We will first set your default page. For most web sites, this is "index.html or index.php". If your homepage is a different filename, change it in the submission field titled "Default Page:". If unsure, simply leave as is and Click Next.

Hint:: You can return to this wizard anytime to make changes by checking "Run wizard on startup" before clicking Next.

Domain Name:: Here you will enter the name of your domain. Type the domain name of the web site you wish to run a report on. In this example, the domain is called "myexampledomain.com". Once you have entered the domain into the "Domain Name" field, Click Add. Your window should look something like this, with your domain name in place of "myexampledomain.com". Now Click Finish.

Your report session settings are now configured. We are now ready to begin analyzing your raw log files.

Step 8 - We now need to tell AlterWind where we save our Raw log files. This will be the folder that we had created earlier in Step 4 on your desktop and where you had downloaded some data to test AlterWind Software in Step 6. Use the 'Look in' dropdown menu to find your Raw Log Files and select the log file you wish to analyze.

Now we need to select the file format from the 'Files of type' dropdown menu. Please select 'GZip Archives (*.gz) as seen below and Click Open.

Step 9 - We are now ready to analyze the Raw Log Files that you have selected in Step 8 and the window will look similar to the image below.

Hint:: To find out what each icon does, simply hoover your cursor over the menu icon for a description of it's function.

Add Log File:: Now click 'Add Log File' this is the icon as seen below.

Hint:: If available, you can add several log files at one time. This will allow you to analyze multiple raw log files within the same report. Cool idea if you manage several web sites networked or collaborating on one domain name.

Generate Report:: Now that AlterWind has raw log files to analyze, it's time to generate a report that we have been waiting for, to do so, simply Click the icon as seen below. to view the report of all your visitors, hits, referrers, etc.

Congratulations!! You have successfully installed AlterWind Analyzer Lite 3.3 on your computer and setup your server to begin archiving your Raw Log Files. The report you generated in the final step will show you an abundance of information you could want regarding the accesses to your site. Next time you want to view more logs, simply start over from Step 5. Enjoy your new statistics software!!
